Kirby Copeland opened the scoring with a jump-shot, but any optimism that this raised in the Rhondda camp was quickly dispelled as their hosts proceeded to drain the next 17, to leave the visitors trailing by fifteen just after the mid-point of the quarter. The Rebels did manage to match their opponents from then until the first break, but the 27-12 scoreline set the scene for a comprehensive victory for the French side.

Leading by 34 going into the final break, the hosts showed no mercy, and a 29-6 final quarter left the Rebels reeling from what I believe is their heaviest ever European defeat.

Six players from Challes reached double figures in the points-fest, while only three of the Rebels could do so.

After a disappointing display in their previous away game, Rhondda regained some respectabilty in Italy, despite going down by 25 points.

The hosts scored first, but Rhondda managed to stay in touch throughout the first quarter, to trail by just six at the first break.

Starting strongly in the second quarter, the Rebels hit the fist five points, to reduce the deficit to just a single point, at 19-18. They had a chance to go ahead, when Andrea Congreaves hauled down the rebound from a missed 3-point attempt by Greco, but the visitors turned the ball over, enabling Zimerle to drain a "3" and halt the revival.

A jump shot from LaNedra Brown brought Rhondda back to 22-20, but that was as close as they were to get, as Tananto hit twelve unanswered points, to lead 34-20, and though the Rebels steadied they still trailed by eleven at the break.

When the home side hit the first six points after the interval, the Rebels were never in contention again, as 2005 WNBA Champion Rebekkah Brunson showed her pedigree with an incredible 32 point / 22 rebound display.
