SHARKS REVEAL NEW SPONSORS ... AND A LITTLE BIT MORE

19/09/07

Leading regional law firm Atteys has been unveiled as the Sheffield Shark's new main shirt sponsor for the 2007/8 basketball season, but demand for the shirts has been so high that at a recent press launch, the team had to resort to body paint to show off team's new colours!

The sponsorship package was secured, following a successful year with Richmonds Solicitors - who merged with Atteys earlier this year.

It will help to provide the vital support needed to enable the Sharks to build on the success they enjoyed last season, after finishing 2nd in the BBL Championship. Through sponsoring the club, Atteys will help to provide the vital support needed to help strengthen the team ahead of this year's season.

Stephen Shore, Partner, Atteys, said: "The Sharks are one of the region's premier sports team and the success they have consistently enjoyed is impressive. As one of South Yorkshire's leading law firms, we are delighted to be associated with the team and wish them every success for the forthcoming season."

Head Coach Peter Scantlebury has spent much of the summer building a new team and was happy that Atteys became an early part of his squad: "I would like to thank Stephen and Atteys for all their support this season. The sponsorship has enabled me to go out and recruit a team that I believe will bring some silverware back to Sheffield. The Sharks' sponsors are an important member of the team and Atteys are certainly a member of our squad".

Sharks player Locker Okorie was looking forward to wearing the new shirt. "It will be great to get the new strip, however I think this one looks great on me."

The 2007 BBL Basketball season will see the Sharks enter into a three year sponsorship deal with Italian Sportswear manufacturer Errea clothing who become the teams official kit supplier and technical sponsor.

To launch the new deal Sharks players Locker Okorie and Alto Virgil were body painted in the new kit along with model Fusia Darley by Students of Sheffield College.

Errea have designed a new kit for the Sharks as well as developed an exciting range of merchandise opportunities. "I was very impressed with the design and manufacturing of our kits and the personal care shown by the Errea UK team to make sure everything is right" added Timms.

The partnership with Errea was developed with Total Teamwear Errea's biggest supplier in the UK. Total Teamwear Director Andrew Tynan highlighted the positive benefits of the deal. "We are already seeing commercial benefits of working with the Sharks and the season hasn't begun yet. Errea are excited at partnering with the premier franchise in the BBL. The history with the Sharks and the management team are second to none" he added "Their strong presence in the community as well as on the court and we hope to help build on this for both the Sharks and Errea."

Head Coach Peter Scantlebury MBE added "I would like to thank Andrew and all the team at Errea for the attention to detail and support they have shown us over the summer months in pulling this deal together."

Sharks fans will benefit from the deal with new ranges of high quality merchandise available and an online platform in the future. "We want to help grow the clubs merchandising and brand throughout the UK and Europe in the future" added Tynan.
