European
Championships for Under 16 Boys (Division B) The final English team to compete in this summer’s European Championships will be the Under-16 Boys, who begin play in Tallin, Estonia on Friday evening with a game against Romania, 4.00pm tip-off (BST). Under head coach Rick Wooldridge, the U-16 boys have undergone a full training programme since January including trips to Spain, France, Ireland, and a 3-game series versus Belgium in Lea Green, Nottinghamshire.
England’s preliminary round opponents are among the strongest basketball nations
in FIBA’s ‘B’ division of competition – the
Netherlands, Romania, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. They must defeat at least two of
these countries for hopes of advancing to the quarter final round.
