U-18 AND U-16 PLAY-OFF FORMAT, 2007

With the increase in the number of teams, and number of leagues, particularly in the Under-18 men's competition, there are changes in the detailed structure of some of the play-off schedules this year, though the basic principles remain the same:

  • Teams from the same League should only meet in an early round if one of them beats a higher seed in an earlier round;

  • Travel is kept to a minimum, while keeping apart teams from the same League.

In the Under-18 Men's league the top four teams from each of the four Premier divisions qualify, together with the top four from each Conference Region, giving a record number of 32 qualifiers.

The result is that the First Round this year involves all the qualifiers, with the sixteen Conference teams each meeting one of the sixteen from the Premier divisions:
