DOWN, UP AND OUT? NOTTINGHAM GONE?

28/09/06

It looks as though EBL1 is back down to twelve teams, with the suggestion that Nottingham Knights have pulled out.

According to a report, from a usually-reliable source, on "What's Bev...", the Knights have "...pulled out of Division One."

Looking for official confirmation proved more complicated than you might expect.

At 9:30am on Thursday the situation was:

There is no mention of withdrawal on the Knights website;

Their Cup fixture for this Sunday has disappeared from the EB fixture list, and their opponents (Bradford Dragons) are now listed as through to Round 2;

The Knights are still listed with a full set of fixtures in both League and Trophy (including this Saturday's game v Arrows);

Manchester Magic's website (which I find very trustworthy - and quick to update) no longer includes fixtures against Nottingham.

By 9.55am they'd also disappeared from the League and Trophy fixtures, so it looks as though they really have gone!
