EBL Div One Men Welcome New Teams By Dave Ryan Following the defection of Worcester Wolves and London United to the BBL, and the closure of Kingston Wildcats, England Basketball has announced two additions to the EBL Division One Men for the 2006/7 season. Last season's basement side Nottingham Knights - who finished with a 3-23 record - have been reprieved from relegation, and will replace Kingston. Meanwhile Northampton Neptunes, who finished third in Division Two, come in for United, but will not compete in the EBL Trophy competition to allow them more time to recruit a top division quality team. Wolves will not be replaced, leaving a 13-team division, with only one side likely to be relegated at the end of the season. Team Northumbria, who finished second in Division Three North last season, and Taunton Tigers who were runners-up in Division South West have been promoted to Division Two. The new-look two-region Division Three will have 11 teams in each section, with no movement up from the three-section Division Four until next summer. Although the Midlands-South section has already seen the loss of one club with the withdrawal of Aston Athletics II, they have been replaced by EBL newcomer, London Metropolitan University.
