LATE MOVES ABOUND IN EBL1 & 2
24/07/06 |
A brief statement from EB to member
clubs updates the League structure for 2006-7:
Northampton Neptunes and
Nottingham Knights will be
promoted to Division One and
Taunton Tigers and
Team Northumbria will be
promoted to Division Two. There will be
no promotion from Division Four to
Division Three.
So, to recap what's happened so far:
-
Birmingham Bullets are "sitting out"
from BBL for a year;
-
Worcester Wolves have moved
from EBL1 to BBL;
-
There are strong rumours, though
still no confirmation, that London
United will also move from EBL1 to
BBL (and PAWS Capitals appear to have
signed many ex-United players);
-
There are also questions over the
future of London Towers and
Brighton Bears in
BBL;
-
Kingston Wildcats have withdrawn from EBL1;
-
Nottingham Knights, who were
relegated to EBL2, are now reinstated in
EBL1;
-
Northampton Neptunes, who finished
third in EBL2, are given late entry into
EBL1;
-
EBL1
will have 13 or 14 teams, depending on the status of London United;
-
Taunton Tigers,
-
Team Northumbria, runners-up
in EBL3 North, and EBL Shield winners, are
given late entry into EBL2;
-
EBL3 North
and South will now have 11 teams each;
-
EBL4 North,
Midlands and
South remain unaffected.
