team briefly appeared in Division 1 (then the lowest Division) from 1981 to

Manchester Giants |
"ATS Giants" were another 1973 "expansion" team. Solid,
moderately successful history until suddenly taken over by Manchester United
(the basketball club) in 1986. Giants supporters started a new team in
Central League, which emerged as Stockport in NBL 1 in 1988. Relegated in
'89, and (ironically) merged with Manchester "B" in 1990, to play in Div. 1.
