Princes Way is at the Southern end of the city Grid Road named V7 Saxon Street!

FACILITIES:

I've not been there for over 20 years, since the original Milton Keynes (ex-Embassy All-Stars) withdrew from the League - at the same time that Hemel were promoted! I doubt if the facilities have remained unchanged ... even if I could remember them.

 

HISTORY:

Hemel Hempstead Lakers entered NBL Division 2 in 1977. Promoted 1979, as runners-up.

Reached Wembley semi-finals three times as "Ovaltine" Hemel Hempstead between 1979 and 1984.

Hemel & Watford, 1984. Hemel Royals, 1986.

Opted to leave BBL for NBL in 1989. Rejoined BBL in 1990. Relegated but reinstated, 1992.

Hemel & Watford Royals, 1996, in preparation for leaving traditional home of Dacorum Leisure Centre, to move to Watford LC as Watford Royals in 1997. In 1998 moved further up the M1, to become Milton Keynes Lions.

Reached their first ever National Final in 2002, when they lost the BBL Trophy by a single point.

Won their first national trophy in 2008, when they triumphed in the BBL Cup Final, and reached the Championship Final at the end of that season..

A brand new, purpose built Arena is due to be open in 2008.
