HISTORY:

With the BBL's carefully planned expansion in 2007, a co-operative venture between the well-established Toxteth Tigers Junior basketball club and Everton FC's Community programme entered a team into the competition.

Basketball followers with long memories should not worry about the precedent of football club involvement in basketball which was so disappointing when Manchester United, Portsmouth and Glasgow Rangers all showed a short-lived interest. Toxteth and Everton have a long association, through the community programme, and the development of a BBL club is a natural part of their long-term joint programme.
