HISTORY:

Formed originally as the Women's section of the Doncaster Panthers' Club that enjoyed huge success in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Panthers' Women's team managed to survive the demise of the men's team in the mid-80s, and maintained an independent existence ever since.

They entered the Women's NBL Division 2 (North) in 1980, after a few seasons of Yorkshire League competition, and made an immediate impact, finishing second in both of their first two seasons, and winning the National Trophy in 1982..

They gained promotion to Division 1 for the 1982-3 season, but came straight back down, without a victory. The next 15 seasons were spent either in Division 2 or Division 2 North, depending on whether regionalisation was in force at the time. They remained, despite the occasional poor season, generally highly competitive, with three 3rd place finishes, and one runners-up spot in the North, until in 1998 they won the Division.

Another single season in Division1 followed (in 1998-9), but after winning just one game they were back down into Division 2 North.

This time they bounced straight back up, from 3rd place, finally discovering that they could compete at the higher level, finishing eighth in the next two seasons.

The club chose another two seasons in Division 2 North, between 2002 and 2004, and then in the League restructuring they qualified, from the Midlands Regional League, to play in the top division again.

The club's longevity, and successes (including four Trophy successes in five Final appearances) are based very much on their intensive development programme, despite lack of large financial resources. Most of the current young squad have come up "through the ranks", with the Juniors and Cadets having appeared in twelve Finals in recent years, winning the Junior Cup once, the Cadet Cup once and the Junior Final Four once.

Struggled in Division 1 during 2005-6 and '06-'07, moving back into Division 2 for 2007-8, and changing their name to Doncaster Danum Eagles.

Continued to struggle, in Division 2 North, finishing 8th (of 10) with just five wins in 18 matches.
